Welcome to ‘Phone Insurance UK’!

If you have a look at my comparison tables, you will see that someone like T-mobile (£12.99 per month) and O2 (£14.99) per month are charging well over what some of the independent guys are charging, for exactly the same cover. Crazy isnt it. But people get lazy, and just accept what these big players are offering, without knowing how much of a saving they can make if they go independent. DON’T BE LAZY, and dont bow down to these large companies which seem to have a monopoly on the insurance market.

Well, you maybe thinking, why on earth would I name a site ‘Phone Insurance UK’? Well, its pretty simple really. When someone wants to find something online, they actually type in what they are looking for. Funny that. I have also bought a domain name (www.phoneinsuranceuk.co.uk) which mirrors what the ‘internet marketers’ call a keyword phrase, which in my case is ‘Phone Insurance UK’.

Well, as you have probably worked out, people I want to help, are the people that type in ‘Phone Insurance UK’ into the search engines. Did you know that keyword phrase has over 1,000 searches alone in the UK each month? In a nutshell, alot of people are really ANNOYED at the big players in the mobile phone game, and how much they are charging. And they are typing in phrases like I am targeting to save some serious money.

So what should one look for when searching for the best online mobile phone insurance?

Well, let me give you a few of the necessities. If you hover over the ‘question mark’ in my comparison tables you will be able to see what is included in each policy. But as a minium you will need:

  • I personally think, if insuring you phone, it should include loss insurance
  • Unlimited unauthorised calls cover
  • An efficient claims response time. Anything more than 48 hrs is not really worth it.
  • The independent insurer’s website needs to clear, concise and easy to use.
  • The independent insurer needs to be FSA regulated, of course.
  • Excess (the amount you have to pay when making a claim) should be below £50.
  • Water damage and accidental damage
  • Theft cover

What are the alternatives to independent mobile phone insurance?

Well, there are another few options which I feel I have to tell you about. And maybe that’s not smart of me, as I am compensated by the insurance companies that I endorse on this website. I do feel that they are worth looking at, but are in my honest opinion, these options are not as good as going with a stand alone insurer.

Insurance from your premium bank account - Banks like Lloyds, RBS etc etc do offer ‘free’ insurance when you have a premium bank account with them. But be warned, in my opinion, and from my experience, you will be asked to jump through quite a few hoops when making a claim. Your excess will also be substantially more than with someone like ‘Protect your bubble’

Insurance from your housing contents insuranceAgain, this is another neat little loophole, that not many people know about. You can actually take out household contents insurance (if you are renting or own a home, it doesnt matter), and within that policy is a section called ‘personal belongings’ and your mobile phone falls under that category. Please be aware though that usually there is a limit on the payout amount. For example, a brand new iphone 4, worth close to £1000 will not be fully covered. More like half of that, unless you increase your monthly insurance payouts.

Mmmm, what do you guys think? Well, if phone insurance is not your thing, dont worry! Head over the the gadgets insurance section of our website. Some of the items covered are: flat screen TV insurance, sat nav insurance, digital camera insurance, PSP insurance, XBox insurance and iPad insurance just to name a few. This site, truelt caters for everyone.

So, there you have it folks. I hope you enjoy my ‘phone insurance UK’ website.
